On Friday 20th September, Steve Ashworth and Ray Jenkins were invited to the planting ceremony near Alcester, Warwickshire of the millionth tree to be planted in the `Heart of England Forest`.
The Forest is the brainchild of millionaire publisher and tree poet, Felix Dennis who lives locally. Since the start the project has planted more than 175ha of broadleaf forest and is the largest privately owned broadleaf forest in England, though with public access.

Following the launch of Forsythia ‘Spring Show Off’ in the USA, Wyevale Nurseries, which recently re-organised from three companies into one, is offering the plant in the UK. Sales and Marketing Director, Adam Dunnett said: “The launch of Forsythia ‘Spring Show Off’, which was named by us, in the States was hugely successful and it will form an important part of the range we’re offering to garden centre plant buyers for 2015. “Also new are: Buddleja ‘Sugar Plum’, Penstemon ‘Margarita BOP’, Rhodanthemum ‘Pretty In Pink’ and Helichrysum ‘Ruby Cluster’ to name but a few.”
THE CUSTOMERS of one of the country’s top commercial nurseries have helped shape the future of its Point of Sale (POS) it was revealed at the HTA National Plant Show today (June 24, 2014). Wyevale Nurseries says it has listened to the feedback from garden centre plant buyers and has re-branded and re-worked its POS so that plants are now ‘king’. Sales and Marketing Director, Adam Dunnett said: “We’ve given our bespoke labels and correx boards a complete redesign having listened to what our customers have told us they would like and what sells plants. They requested that we made the plant image king and ensured the name was clear and easy to read. They also said we should major on the British-grown message.
An abundance of colour still abounds on the nursery with seasonal favourites such as Asters and Anemones looking vibrant and many herbaceous plants flowering for a second time. Our large selection of Heuchera's are also providing a range of beautiful colours and textures.
