The Laskett Gardens
Posted by Luke. Jul. 15 2015 in PR Stories.

We were invited last Thursday (July 9, 2015) by Sir Roy Strong to visit The Laskett Gardens in Much Birch, Herefordshire.

Sir Roy gave a talk at our nursery open day last July and we were delighted to visit his stunning gardens in return. The Laskett Gardens are one of the largest private formal gardens to be created in England since 1945.

Sir Roy and his late wife, the designer Dr Julia Trevelyan Oman, transformed a four acre field into a series of garden rooms, vistas, ascents and descents. These include a rose garden, pleached lime avenue, orchard, kitchen garden, knot garden, fountains, statuary and parterres as well as an array of topiary and herbaceous and prairie style borders.

Twenty-five of our staff members attended the gardens visit and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They were allowed to walk around the gardens while listening to an audio pack that contained a description of the gardens and the history behind them, as described by Sir Roy.

We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Sir Roy and his team for allowing us to visit and for their great hospitality.
