We’re celebrating this week after winning three Horticulture Week Business Awards.

We came away with Wholesale Nursery Stock Grower of the Year, Best New Ornamental Plant with Daphne ‘Perfumed Princess’ and Chris King won an Inaugural Horticulture Week New Generation Award.

Adam Dunnett, our Sales and Marketing Director, said: “We’re overwhelmed that we won three of these prestigious accolades in the trade publication’s first annual awards on June 28. This is well deserved recognition for all the incredible hard work everyone in our business puts in. Thank you all.

“A huge congratulations to Chris, our Assistant Production Manager at our Wyevale Transplants Division, who won an Inaugural Horticulture Week New Generation Award.

“These awards were to identify the best newcomers to the horticulture industry across all sectors: production, garden retail, landscape creation and landscape management. The New Generation Awards recognise the individuals who have the potential to become the leaders of the horticulture industry in the next decade. What a fantastic achievement for Chris.

“We’re also over the moon that Daphne odora x bholua ‘Perfume Princess’ won the Best New Ornamental Plant Award. We think it may possibly be the most scented shrub in the world. It has very large flowers – double the size of any odora Daphne available. It is extremely floriferous – tip bearing flowers are followed by flowers that open all the way down the stem.

“It also has a very long flowering period, offering months of flowers and is extremely tough and durable, able to withstand high temperature extremes. To add to all this, it doesn’t get the sick yellowing of leaves that is so common in Daphne.

“Thanks again to all our staff for all their continued hard work and dedication. They make it all possible.”

Horticulture Week launched the Horticulture Week Business Awards 2018 to support, encourage and broadcast excellence among the businesses that make up the UK horticulture industry.
